Willingdon Island is well connected to Ernakulam Mainland and Mattancherry through Inter-island ferry services. The main jetty is called as Customs Jetty, located in north side of island, near to Central Customs of India office. One can get connections to Mattancherry from Terminus Jetty located in western side, though its not popular.

Willingdon Island houses the Kochi Port where regular cruisers and ferry services operates. Kochi port is one of the major India port, where most of the global cruisers do short halt. Regular ferries to Goa, Mumbai, Lakshadweep connects from this port

There is no inter-state bus connections to this island. Indian Navy's bus brings naval guests/cadets from other bus stations or points across Kochi UA and other parts of state.

Willingdon island is well connected by Kochi City Bus Services. Private operated Red Bus plying on Aluva-Fort Kochi passes through this island which stop before Naval Base. For travelling in the island, Red bus lines operating in Aluva-Island route covers extensively in the island. Most of the red bus in island starts/ends their journey near Port Bus station. KSRTC currently operates Orange Bus Route A, B, E on these routes connecting Fort Kochi, Ernakulam, Aluva and Airport.

Cochin International Airport COKis 40 kms from this island, with regular domestic and international connections. If you are a naval officer/naval guest or guest of India Government, you may be likely to fly into Kochi Naval Airport, located in this island, which allows only Naval aircrafts and VIP Charters of India government.

By Taxis

Naval Taxis can be caught at Katari Bagh or inside Naval command for plying inside naval base. Regular white taxis can be caught at Wharf area or new Cruise point or in taxi stands operating near star hotels.

NH 47 A old NH 47 connects Willingdon Island with other parts of the state. The BOT Bridge, Thevera Ferry Bridge and Vendurutty Bridge connects the island with Mattencherry Island and Ernakulam Mainland.

Currently only freight trains operate to this island. The Cochin Harbour Terminus CHT which was one of the largest Passenger terminal was operational till 2000 which was closed for passenger traffic after railway bridge to the island was found not safe. Recently a new railway bridge was constructed and plans to open regular passenger traffic is proposed by Jan 2011.

By Auto

Autos are comparatively less in Island, due to the restrictions placed by Port authorities and Navy. Autos caught from Ernakulam Mainland and Mattencherry/Fort Kochi operate to island. If you want to catch an auto, auto stands are located in front of Wharf and cargo villages. No autos are allowed to enter Naval Base or Katari Bagh. Similar restrictions are placed inside Port area, though not strictly implemented.
