The village has had an annual burgoo-making festival for more than a century. Burgoo is a hearty stew once made with game meats like squirrel and venison, but now made with chicken, beef, or vegetables. The entire town chips in to make a huge batch in the park downtown. The festival includes games and parades as well as lots of burgoo to eat on site or take home with you.
