Car
The Doto expressway is currently undergoing major construction, including a route to Kitami. Route 39 also goes through Kitami.
By plane
Memambetsu Airport is about 42 minutes away by bus. It costs 1000 yen per person. Taxis are also available, but at 7500 yen per car. JAL and Air Do operate flights from Tokyo and Sapporo. ANA operates flights from Nagoya.
Train
JR's Kitami, Nishi-Kitami, Hakuyo, and Itoshino Stations are located in central Kitami. The limited express Okhotsk runs 6 times per day each way in winter,ãand 4 times per day in the summer. It operates from Sapporo and Abashiri. There are also Futsu local trains from Engaru and Abashiri about once every hour. The Special Rapid 'Kitami' train runs from Asahikawa once per day.
By bus
Kitami bus operates buses from Memambetsu airport, as well as to Sapporo and Abashiri.
