The new, shiny, US$400 million Yangyang International Airport (http://yangyang.airport.c...) was built to serve the province; there are currently two flights daily to and from Busan's Gimhae airport. If coming from outside of Korea, fly into Seoul-Incheon and take the direct bus from the airport instead.
