Aure

Aure is about 150 km west of Trondheim along E-39 between Orkanger and Kristiansund. At the Hennset ferrydock, take the ferry to Arasvika and follow the signs towards Aure or Mjosundet - both ways will take you to Aure as the road circles the island of Ertvågøya.

There are frequent busroutes connecting Aure to Kristiansund and Trondheim, although your own car is the best way to get around and travel at your own speed. Localbuses are scarce and there is normally only one or two buses daily. Hitchhiking is a cheap way to travel and the local people are normally friendly and helpful. Cycling is a nice way to move around the varied landscape, although steep hills can be challenging.
