Getting around the town is a little tricky. The roads are mostly narrow with no shoulder except for Route 209 running through most of the town. Biking is an option but it's important to watch out for cars on the back roads because often they are moving fast around 40 mph. During the tourist season summer there can be high traffic on the way to the beach. There is no real form of public transportation unless you want to bumb a ride on the bus with your six year old to Phippsburg Elementary School at 7 am. Most people would either rent a car from an airport or use a friends car to get around if you don't live near the state. Boating may be a good way to get around. Most of the town is surrounded by water so most places are easily accessible by boat.
